Face your fears

Fear exists to keep us from pain, but the truth is, not all pain is bad. In fact, a lot of the best things in life are on the other side of fear.

Facing our fears allows us to see our weaknesses more clearly. This is the place where we learn empathy, forgiveness, and mercy.

On the other side of courage is confidence and increased capacity.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

The other side of courage

  • better relationships

  • greater opportunities

  • clues to your divine purpose.

Mike, you’re a very brave man. I mean, it takes courage just to be you. To get out of bed every single day, knowing full well, you gotta be you.

Do you really mean that?

I couldn’t do it. I—- I ain’t that strong. And I ain’t that brave.

I’m braver than you?

Way braver! You Braveheart, man.

I Braveheart. I am

make a “Fear” list

Instead of making a list of the things that you most want, try making a list of things that you fear the most. This list will give you immediate insight as to what is keeping you from being more of yourself.

  1. When you think of your wildest dreams, what are some of the biggest fears that come to mind?

  2. What makes you feel weak or inadequate, or makes you feel like you cannot make it to the next level?

  3. How would it make you feel if you were on the other side of that fear? What would you be able to accomplish?
